Robin Shou is a martial artist and actor best known for his role as Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat film series.
Shou was born in Hong Kong on July 26, 1964. His parents were both martial artists, and his older brother is also a martial artist. Shou began training in martial arts at a young age, and competed in tournaments throughout his teens.
Shou’s martial arts career led to him being cast in a number of films, including The Karate Kid Part III (1989), Beverly Hills Ninja (1997), and Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever (2002). He has also had roles in television shows such as Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy (1999) and CSI: Miami (2002).
In 1995, Shou was cast as Liu Kang in the first Mortal Kombat film. He reprised the role in the 1997 sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
Shou’s other film credits include The Scorpion King (2002), DOA: Dead or Alive (2006), and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009).
Shou has a black belt in karate and is also a skilled swordsman. He is married to actress Jamie Chung, with whom he has two daughters.
