Reagan Gomez-Preston is an American actress, voice actress, and producer. She is best known for her roles as Zaria Peterson on The Parent ‘Hood, as Roberta “Robbie” Thorne on the Nickelodeon sitcom Unfabulous, and as Desiree Coleman on the BET comedy-drama series The Game.
Early Life
Reagan Gomez-Preston was born on April 24, 1980, in Detroit, Michigan, to a Mexican father and an African-American mother. She has two older sisters, Rhonda and Deanna. Gomez-Preston was raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where she studied acting.
Career
Gomez-Preston began her acting career at the age of seven, when she made her television debut on an episode of the sitcom 227. She went on to guest-star on several television shows throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including Family Matters, Smart Guy, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, 7th Heaven, and The Steve Harvey Show.
In 1995, Gomez-Preston was cast as Zaria Peterson, the eldest child of Marlon and Tonia Peterson (played by Robert Townsend and Jasmine Guy), on The WB sitcom The Parent ‘Hood. She appeared in all 96 episodes of the series, which ran for five seasons until 1999.
From 2004 to 2007, Gomez-Preston starred as Roberta “Robbie” Thorne, a teenage fashion designer, on the Nickelodeon sitcom Unfabulous. She also voiced the character of Roberta “Robbie” Thorne in the show’s spin-off video game, Unfabulous: The Fashion Game.
From 2011 to 2015, Gomez-Preston starred as Desiree Coleman, the ex-wife of professional football player Jason Pitts (played by Coby Bell), on the BET comedy-drama series The Game.
In addition to her work on television, Gomez-Preston has also appeared in a number of films. Her film credits include The First Power (1990), Bébé’s Kids (1992), Friday (1995), Senseless (1998), Love Don’t Cost a Thing (2003), Beauty Shop (2005), and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (2008).
Personal Life
Gomez-Preston has been married to rapper and actor DeWayne Turrentine Jr., better known by his stage name Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, since June 2005. The couple have two daughters: Simone Alexandra (born August 14, 2014) and Jasmine Lia (born December 16, 2015).
Gomez-Preston is a vegan.
