Lewinsky began her career as an intern at the White House in 1995. She later worked as a staff member for the Office of Legislative Affairs and as an assistant to chief of staff Leon Panetta. In 1996, she transferred to the Pentagon as an assistant to Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Kenneth Bacon.
In 1998, Lewinsky’s name became public during the investigation of President Bill Clinton by Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr. The investigation led to Clinton’s impeachment in the House of Representatives and his acquittal by the Senate.
In the years following the Clinton impeachment, Lewinsky spoke publicly about her experiences and became an advocate for social change. She has also worked as a television personality and fashion designer. In 2014, she launched a campaign against cyberbullying called #DefyTheName.
