Monde Nissin was founded by Minda C. Nissin, a Filipino entrepreneur. Minda C. Nissin was born in Manila, Philippines in 1941. She is the daughter of Chinese immigrants who moved to the Philippines in the early 20th century. Minda C. Nissin received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of the Philippines. After graduation, she worked for a food company in Manila before starting her own business in 1971.
Minda C. Nissin started Monde Nissin with just two products: instant noodles and soy sauce. The company’s first factory was located in Pasig, Philippines. Monde Nissin soon became a leading manufacturer of instant noodles in the Philippines. The company’s instant noodle brand, Lucky Me!, is now the best-selling instant noodle brand in the Philippines.
Monde Nissin has expanded its product range over the years to include biscuits, snacks, and frozen food. The company now has manufacturing plants in the Philippines, China, and Indonesia. Monde Nissin has a workforce of over 8,000 employees and generates annual sales of over US$1 billion.
Minda C. Nissin is one of the richest women in the Philippines with a net worth of US$2.4 billion. She is also one of the country’s most generous philanthropists. In 2015, she donated US$5 million to help build a new cancer center at the Philippine General Hospital.
