Kel Mitchell is an American actor, comedian, dancer, musician, and rapper. He is best known for his work as a cast member of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, and for his starring role as Kel Kimble on the Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan & Kel.
Mitchell was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 25, 1978. His parents, Betty and Tyrone Mitchell, were both African-American. He has two older siblings, Tyra and Kyra. Mitchell was raised in the city’s Englewood neighborhood.
Mitchell’s interest in performing began at an early age. He took dance classes and participated in school plays. He also enjoyed watching comedy shows on television, particularly those featuring African-American performers.
Mitchell’s career began when he was cast as a regular on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That. The show debuted in 1994 and quickly became a hit with young viewers. Mitchell appeared on All That for five seasons, until 1999.
In 1996, Mitchell co-starred with Kenan Thompson in the Nickelodeon sitcom Kenan & Kel. The show followed the misadventures of two teenage friends, Kenan and Kel. The show was a hit with viewers and ran for four seasons, until 2000.

Mitchell has also continued to perform as a stand-up comedian. He has toured the country with his comedy act, and has appeared on several television shows, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Conan.
