Ewell was born in Long Beach, California, on August 27, 1985. She is the daughter of Karen (née Smedley) and Kevin Ewell. She has two older sisters, Kendra and Katelyn.
Ewell began her acting career in 2003 with a guest appearance on the television series CSI: Miami. She went on to have roles in a number of television shows, including Entourage, Crossing Jordan, What About Brian and Vanished.
In 2009, Ewell landed the role of Caitlin Ramirez on The Vampire Diaries. She appeared in a total of 41 episodes over the course of the show’s six-season run.
Following the conclusion of The Vampire Diaries, Ewell had a recurring role on the short-lived CBS drama series Reckless. She has also appeared in the films Kiss & Tell (2010) and The Social Network (2010).
