John McCook is an American actor. He was born on June 20, 1944 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. His parents were John Charles McCook and Ruth McCook. He has two sisters, Mary and Nancy. He attended high school at the Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford. He then studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.

McCook’s career began on the soap opera The Young and the Restless, where he played the role of Lance Prentiss from 1975 to 1980. He then played the role of Eric Forrester on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from 1987 to present. McCook has also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Hart to Hart, Magnum, P.I., The A-Team, and Murder, She Wrote.

McCook has been married three times. His first wife was Lissa Layng (m. 1968-1972). His second wife was Juliet Prowse (m. 1977-1996). His third wife is Laurette Spang (m. 1999-present). He has four children: Charles McCook, Bria McCook, Brooke McCook, and Chad McCook.
