Gordon Clapp is an American actor, best known for his role as Detective Greg Medavoy on the television series NYPD Blue.
Born in North Conway, New Hampshire, Clapp is the son of Phyllis (née Johnson) and Richard Clapp, a high school guidance counselor. He has two brothers, Bruce and Robert.
Clapp graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts in theatre. He began his acting career in regional theatre, before moving to New York City in 1974.
Clapp made his television debut in 1976, guest-starring on an episode of the CBS police drama Hawaii Five-O. He went on to guest-star on a number of other television shows, including Kojak, The Equalizer, and Miami Vice.
In 1993, Clapp was cast as Detective Greg Medavoy on NYPD Blue. He played the role for 12 years, until the show ended in 2005.
Clapp has also appeared in a number of films, including The Verdict (1982), The Natural (1984), and Hoffa (1992).
In addition to his work as an actor, Clapp is also a director and producer. He has directed episodes of NYPD Blue, The Shield, and The Mentalist. He has also produced episodes of The Shield and The Mentalist.
Clapp has been married to actress Linda Dano since 1985. The couple have two children together.
