Gloria Reuben is a Canadian actress, singer, and producer. She is known for her role as Jeanie Boulet on the medical drama ER and for her work on the television series Mr. Robot.
Reuben was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Pearl Avis (née Levitt), a singer, and Cyril George Reuben, an engineer. She has an older brother, David Reuben. Her parents were both Jewish immigrants.
Reuben was educated at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto. She began her acting career in the early 1980s with guest roles on such television series as The Littlest Hobo and Hill Street Blues. In 1984, she made her film debut with a small role in the film City Limits.
Reuben’s breakout role came in 1994 with her portrayal of Jeanie Boulet on the NBC medical drama ER. She held the role for six seasons, until 2000. For her work on the show, she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series.
In 2015, Reuben began appearing as Marissa Gold on the USA Network series Mr. Robot. The following year, she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the show.
Reuben has been married twice. Her first husband was Canadian actor Michael Levine, with whom she has a son, Levi Reuben-Levine. The couple divorced in 1990. Her second husband is actor Kofi Natei, with whom she has a daughter, Nia Reuben-Natei.
