Emily Procter is an American actress. She was born on October 8, 1968, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her parents are Barbara and William Procter. She has two sisters, Susan and Elizabeth. Procter attended Ravenscroft School in Raleigh. She then studied acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Procter’s first acting role was in the soap opera As the World Turns. She then appeared in the TV series Guiding Light. Procter’s breakout role was in the TV series The West Wing.
