Ed Ames (born Edmund Dantes Urick on July 9, 1927) is an American singer and actor. He is known for his pop hits of the 1960s including “My Cup Runneth Over” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, and for his portrayal of Mingo on the NBC television series Daniel Boone from 1964 to 1970.

Ames was born in Malden, Massachusetts, the son of Ukrainian immigrants, Annie (née Urciuoli) and David Urick, who had changed the family name from “Urick” to “Ames”. He was raised in a close-knit Jewish community and began singing and performing at an early age.

After graduating from Malden High School in 1945, Ames enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Philippines. Upon his return, he attended Boston College on the G.I. Bill.

Ames began his career as a singer with the Ames Brothers, a close harmony pop music quartet, in the late 1940s. The Ames Brothers were one of the most popular vocal groups of the 1950s, scoring 19 consecutive hits between 1950 and 1956. Ames also appeared on numerous television variety shows in the 1950s and 1960s, including The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

In 1964, Ames began appearing as Mingo, a Native American friend of Daniel Boone, on the NBC television series Daniel Boone. The show was cancelled after six seasons in 1970.

In recent years, Ames has appeared on stage in such musicals as My Fair Lady, Camelot, and The Fantasticks. He has also appeared in a number of films, including The Caine Mutiny Court Martial (1988) and My Blue Heaven (1990).
