Danny Greene (1933-1977) was an Irish-American mobster and crime boss in Cleveland, Ohio during the 1970s. He was born in Cleveland to Irish immigrant parents. He had four brothers and sisters. His father died when he was young, and his mother remarried. Greene was raised in a tough neighborhood and was involved in street gangs as a teenager. He dropped out of high school in the tenth grade.
Greene began his criminal career as a petty thief and burglar. He later became involved in loan sharking, gambling, and racketeering. He also worked as a enforcer for the local Mafia. In the 1960s, Greene became involved in the construction industry. He used his criminal connections to get contracts for his construction company. He also began extorting money from local businesses.
In the early 1970s, Greene became the leader of a group of Irish-American mobsters known as the “Cleveland Irish Mob”. The Irish Mob was involved in a turf war with the Italian Mafia over control of the city’s organized crime. The war between the two gangs resulted in a number of murders and bombings.
In 1976, Greene was indicted on federal racketeering charges. He was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released from prison in 1977.
Greene was killed on October 6, 1977, when a bomb exploded under his car. It is believed that the Italian Mafia ordered his assassination.
