Brian McCann is an American professional baseball catcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played for the New York Yankees and Houston Astros. He is a seven-time All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger Award winner.

Early Life

Brian McCann was born on February 20, 1984, in Athens, Georgia. His parents are Howard and Shelley McCann. He has two brothers, Brad and Brett. McCann attended Duluth High School in Duluth, Georgia, where he played baseball and football. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2002 Major League Baseball draft.

Career

McCann made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2005. He was named to the National League (NL) All-Star team in 2006 and 2008. In 2010, he won the Silver Slugger Award and the NL Hank Aaron Award. He was traded to the Yankees before the 2013 season. In 2014, he won his second Silver Slugger Award. He signed with the Astros before the 2017 season. In 2018, he won his third Silver Slugger Award.
