Barry Pearl is an American actor, best known for his role as Doody in the musical Grease and as Professor Harold Hill in The Music Man.

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Pearl was raised in a showbiz family. His father, Bernard, was a vaudeville performer and his mother, Ruth, was a dancer. Pearl began performing at an early age, appearing in his father’s vaudeville act when he was just four years old.

After high school, Pearl headed to New York City to pursue a career in acting. He landed his first professional role in the Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks. From there, he went on to appear in a number of Broadway shows, including Grease, The Music Man, and Fiddler on the Roof.

Pearl’s film credits include roles in Grease (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980), and Hairspray (1988). He has also appeared on television shows such as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Hart to Hart.

In addition to his acting career, Pearl is also a successful voiceover artist. He has lent his voice to numerous commercials and animated films, including the Disney classic The Little Mermaid (1989).

Pearl is married to actress Randee Heller. The couple has two children.
