Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, was a British photographer, film maker and designer. He was the only son of Sir Reginald Armstrong-Jones and his wife, Anne Messel. His father was a barrister and his mother was the daughter of the 2nd Baronet Messel. Antony was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. He began his career as a photographer for Vogue magazine in 1955. In 1960, he married Princess Margaret, the sister of Queen Elizabeth II. The couple had two children: Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones and David Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon. They divorced in 1978. Antony died in 2017 at the age of 86.
