A.C. Green was born on October 4, 1963, in Portland, Oregon. His parents are Al and Shirley Green. He has two brothers, Anthony and Calvin. He attended high school at Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland. He played basketball and was a member of the track team. After high school, he attended Oregon State University on a basketball scholarship. He played for the Oregon State Beavers from 1982 to 1986. He was named the Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year in 1986. He was also a two-time All-American. He left Oregon State as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,272 points.
Green was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft. He played for the Lakers for 12 seasons from 1986 to 1998. He won three NBA championships with the Lakers in 1988, 2000, and 2001. He was also a member of the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1987. He retired from the NBA in 2001 with 9,391 career points.
Green is currently the NBA’s all-time leader in consecutive games played with 1,192. He is also a member of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and the Oregon State University Hall of Fame.
Green has been married twice. His first marriage was to Julie Wilkening in 1992. They had two children together before divorcing in 2002. Green married his second wife, Veronique Marquez, in 2009. They have one child together.
