Al Mana was born in Doha, Qatar, in 1970. His father, Abdulrahman, was a businessman who founded the Al Mana Group in 1960. His mother, Sheikha Hessa, is from a prominent Qatari family. He has four brothers and sisters.

Al Mana was educated in Qatar and England. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from George Washington University in the United States.

Al Mana began his career working for his father’s company. He later became involved in the family’s automotive business, which includes dealerships for Nissan, Infiniti, Renault and Mitsubishi. The company is also the exclusive distributor for Jaguar and Land Rover in Qatar.

In 2009, Al Mana and his brothers acquired a majority stake in British retailer Harvey Nichols. The following year, they opened the first Harvey Nichols store in the Middle East, in Dubai.

Al Mana is married to British pop singer Janet Jackson. The couple have one child together.
