Tom Ellis is a British actor, best known for his roles as Lucifer Morningstar in the American television series Lucifer and Gary Preston in the British sitcom Miranda.

Born in Cardiff, Wales, on November 17, 1978, Ellis was raised in a small town in the Welsh countryside. His father was a Baptist minister and his mother was a schoolteacher. Ellis has two older sisters.

He attended the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where he studied acting. After graduation, he moved to London to pursue his acting career.

Ellis made his television debut in an episode of the British medical drama Casualty. He went on to appear in a number of British television series, including The Bill, Doctors, Holby City, and EastEnders.

In 2015, Ellis was cast as Lucifer Morningstar in the American television series Lucifer, based on the comic book character created by Neil Gaiman. The series ran for three seasons on Fox before being canceled in 2018. It was later picked up by Netflix for a fourth season, which is set to premiere in 2020.

Ellis has also appeared in the films Buffalo Soldiers (2001), Fanny and Elvis (2002), and There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble (2000).

He is married to Meaghan Oppenheimer, with whom he has two daughters.
