Sheila Kelley was born on October 21, 1961 in Buffalo, New York. Her parents are James and Mary Kelley. She has two brothers, Kevin and Sean. Sheila Kelley attended Kenmore West High School. After high school, she studied acting at the Juilliard School in New York City.
Sheila Kelley’s acting career began in the 1980s. She made her television debut in an episode of the series Miami Vice. She has also appeared in episodes of the series L.A. Law, Cheers, and Seinfeld. In addition to her work on television, Sheila Kelley has also appeared in the films The Accidental Tourist (1988), Steel Magnolias (1989), and Sommersby (1993).
Sheila Kelley’s choreography work includes the film Strictly Ballroom (1992) and the television series So You Think You Can Dance (2005-present). She has also served as a producer on the television series L.A. Law and So You Think You Can Dance. In addition to her work in television and film, Sheila Kelley is also a writer. She has written two books, The Rhythm of Family (2010) and Leading Ladies: Dancing with the Stars (2011).
Sheila Kelley is married to actor Richard Schiff. They have two children together, Daisy and Gus.
