He was awarded the C.M.(Member of the Order of Canada) on April 15, 1999 for his services to Canadian Children's Literature.
Robert Munsch was born on July 11, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents were both teachers. He has three sisters and one brother. Munsch attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature in 1968. He then attended Harvard University, where he earned a master’s degree in education in 1970. After working as a teacher and a social worker, Munsch decided to become a writer.
His first book, “Love You Forever,” was published in 1986. It quickly became a bestseller. Munsch has written more than 50 books for children. His books have been translated into more than 20 languages. Many of his books have been made into movies and television shows.
Munsch has won numerous awards for his work, including the Governor General’s Award and the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year Award. He is one of the most popular children’s authors in the world. Munsch lives in Guelph, Ontario with his wife, Ann. They have three children. ..
