I really wanted to write a story with a sexy girl, a good-looking guy, some romance, video games, and cute school uniforms! Of course Bunny [Usagi/Serena Tsukino] is strong, too... we've got to be strong for our boys! Right, girls?

Fact
1
She always wanted to be a manga artist, but her father advised that she study for an alternative profession in case she didn't achieve her dream, so she went to university to study chemistry.
2
She is a graduate from the Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy (now defunct, as it merged with Keio University in 2006), with a degree in chemistry.
3
During college, she served as a miko (temple maiden) at the Shiba Daijingu Shrine. She made her "Sailor Moon" character Rei Hino a miko, based on this experience.
4
She based her "Sailor Moon" protagonist Usagi Tsukino on herself in her teenage years: scatterbrained and dreamy, but bighearted and romantic. She also wears her in an "odango" style, something Takeuchi did in college for good luck. Similarly, she based the Tsukino family on her own: she had a devoted but busy father named Kenji, a loving but nagging mother named Ikuko and a bratty younger brother named Shingo.
5
Much of her work is based on aspects from her life.
6
She likes racing cars, just like her "Sailor Moon" character Haruka Tenoh. They even share a favorite car, the Ferrari 512M.
7
She draws herself usually as a little bunny, or a human with rabbit ears. She draws her husband Yoshihiro Togashi as a dog, her son as a puppy and her friend/editor Fumio Osano as a pig.
8
Was in the manga and astronomy clubs in high school. This provided her with background and knowledge to build up the extensive mythologies for her works.
9
She originally wanted to kill all of the main characters at the end of the first Sailor Moon manga arc. Her editor wouldn't let her do that, since it was a "shoujo" ("girls") series.
