Michael Ball (born 27 June 1962) is an English actor, singer, and presenter. He made his acting debut in the 1985 television film The Insurance Man, before going on to play leading roles in the musicals Cats (1987) and Les Misérables (1989). He has also appeared in a number of films and television series, including the BBC soap opera EastEnders (1985–1986).

Ball was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. His parents were both teachers. He has two older sisters. Ball was educated at Bromsgrove School, where he was a member of the choir. He then studied at the Guildford School of Acting.
Ball’s first professional acting role was in the 1985 television film The Insurance Man. He then went on to play leading roles in the musicals Cats (1987) and Les Misérables (1989). He has also appeared in a number of films and television series, including the BBC soap opera EastEnders (1985–1986).
Ball has been married twice. His first marriage was to actress Sarah Jane Morris, with whom he has two children. The couple divorced in 2007. Ball married his second wife, Katie McGovern, in 2014.
