Lynne Marie Stewart is an American actress and comedian, best known for her role as Miss Yvonne on the children’s television series Pee-wee’s Playhouse.
Born in Los Angeles, California, on December 14, 1946, Stewart was the only child of William and Mary Stewart. Her father was an insurance salesman and her mother was a homemaker. Stewart began acting in school plays in the fifth grade and went on to study drama at Los Angeles City College. After college, she worked as a secretary for a talent agent before landing her first acting role on the television series The Ghost & Mrs. Muir.
Stewart’s big break came in 1986 when she was cast as Miss Yvonne on Pee-wee’s Playhouse. She played the role for four seasons and earned two Emmy nominations for her work on the show.
In addition to her work on television, Stewart has also appeared in a number of films, including The Big Lebowski (1998), Best in Show (2000), and For Your Consideration (2006).
Stewart has been married three times. Her first husband was actor Richard Gilliland, with whom she had one son, Ian. She was married to actor Jim Beaver from 2000 to 2009. She is currently married to actor-director John Bowab.
Stewart has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
