Lauren Tewes is an American actress best known for her role as Julie McCoy on the long-running television series The Love Boat.
Born in San Luis Obispo, California, on October 17, 1953, Lauren Tewes was the youngest of three children. Her father was an Air Force pilot and her mother was a homemaker. Tewes’ early education took place in various locations around the world due to her father’s military career.
After high school, Tewes attended San Francisco State University, where she majored in drama. It was during her time at San Francisco State that Tewes began her professional acting career, appearing in a number of stage productions.
In 1977, Tewes landed the role that would make her a household name: Julie McCoy on The Love Boat. Tewes appeared on The Love Boat for nine seasons, from 1977 to 1986. After leaving The Love Boat, Tewes had guest-starring roles on a number of television series, including Cheers, Murphy Brown, and Wings.
In recent years, Tewes has appeared in a number of made-for-television movies and has done voice work for animated series such as The Simpsons and Family Guy.
Lauren Tewes is divorced and has one child.
