Karen Mok is a Chinese actress, singer and songwriter. She was born on 2 June 1970 in Hong Kong to a Chinese father and an English mother. Mok was educated at the prestigious St. Paul’s Girls’ School in London and later at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Mok’s acting career began in the early 1990s, when she appeared in a number of Hong Kong films. She first came to prominence with her role in the film “The Wedding Banquet” (1993). Mok has since appeared in over 60 films and television dramas, including “The Legend of Zu” (2001), “Shaolin Soccer” (2001) and “2046” (2004).

In addition to her acting career, Mok is also a successful singer and songwriter. She has released 11 albums, including “Karen Mok” (1998), “The Best of Karen Mok” (2000) and “Lover’s Concerto” (2002). Mok has also held several concert tours, including the “Karen Mok World Tour” (2002-2003) and the “Karen Mok Live in Concert” (2006-2007).

Mok is one of the most successful Chinese actresses of her generation. She has won numerous awards, including the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress (1993), the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress (1994) and the Taiwan Golden Horse Award for Best Actress (2001). Mok has also been named one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by Time magazine (2005) and one of the “500 Most Influential Celebrities in the World” by Forbes magazine (2007).
