John Hannah is a retired American football player who was an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. He played college football for the University of Alabama, and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 1973 NFL Draft. Hannah was considered one of the best offensive linemen of his era, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.

Early Life
John Hannah was born on April 4, 1951, in Albertville, Alabama. He is the youngest of six children born to James and Annie Hannah. His father was a sharecropper and his mother was a homemaker. Hannah’s older brothers, Jimmy and Tommy, both played football at the University of Alabama.
Hannah began playing football in high school, where he was a two-way lineman. He played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was a three-year starter on the offensive line. He was named an All-American in 1972 and 1973.
Career
Hannah was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 1973 NFL Draft. He played his entire thirteen-year career with the Patriots, and was considered one of the best offensive linemen of his era. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and a five-time First-Team All-Pro. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
Hannah’s career came to an end after he suffered a knee injury in 1985. He attempted to come back from the injury in 1986, but was unable to play at a high level and retired after the season.
