Born in Mexico City on October 12, 1971, Romero was raised in a musical family. His father, Jesús Romero Sr., was a well-known mariachi musician, and his mother, María Luisa López, was a singer. Romero began playing guitar at a young age and soon began writing his own songs. He made his recording debut as a member of Mœnia in 1995, with the group’s self-titled debut album. The album was a commercial success, spawning the hit single “No Dices Mas.”
Mœnia would go on to release eight more studio albums over the next two decades, all of which were well-received by both critics and fans. The group’s popularity led to Romero appearing in a number of films and television series, including the soap opera “Al Diablo con los Guapos” and the film “Buscando a Nemo 2: El Regreso de Nemo.” In addition to his work with Mœnia, Romero has also released five solo albums, the most recent of which, “Por Siempre,” was released in 2016.
Romero has been married to actress Marcela Rubiales since 2002. The couple has two children together.
