Hill Harper is an American actor and author. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on May 17, 1966, to Marilyn Hill and Harry Harper. His mother was a professor of English, and his father was a lawyer. He has two sisters, one older and one younger. He attended the University of Iowa for his undergraduate degree and then earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
He began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in small roles on television shows such as “NYPD Blue” and “ER.” He made his film debut in the 1995 film “Get on the Bus.” He has since appeared in a number of films, including “The Skulls” (2000), “Beloved” (1998), and “Gone Baby Gone” (2007).
He has also had a successful career as an author. His first book, “Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny”, was published in 2006. It was followed by “The Wealth Cure: Putting Money in Its Place” (2011) and “The Conversation: How Black Men and Women Can Build Loving, Trusting Relationships” (2014).
He is currently married to actress and author, Tiffany Little Canfield. They have one son together, named Hunter.
