Harvey Grant (born October 20, 1965) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a small forward and played collegiately for the University of Maryland. Grant was drafted in the first round of the 1988 NBA draft by the Washington Bullets with the 12th overall pick. He played 11 seasons in the NBA with the Bullets/Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Seattle SuperSonics.

Grant was born in Augusta, Georgia, and grew up in nearby Hephzibah. His father, Horace, was a factory worker, and his mother, Shirley, was a schoolteacher. Grant has four older sisters and one younger brother. His older sister, Vernetta, played basketball at Savannah State University.

Grant attended Hephzibah High School, where he played basketball and was a two-time All-State selection. He played AAU basketball for the Augusta Lynx. He was recruited by several colleges, but chose to play for Lefty Driesell at the University of Maryland.

Grant played four seasons for the Maryland Terrapins from 1984 to 1988. He was a two-time ACC All-Star and was named to the ACC All-Tournament team in 1988. He helped lead Maryland to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including the Elite Eight in 1986.

Grant was selected by the Washington Bullets in the first round (12th overall) of the 1988 NBA draft. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 1989. He averaged a career-high 20.0 points per game in 1991–92.

In 1993, Grant was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers for Rasheed Wallace. He spent two seasons in Portland before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in 1995. He played three seasons in Philadelphia before being traded to the Seattle SuperSonics in 1998. He played four seasons in Seattle before retiring in 2002.

Grant’s career totals include 9,997 points, 3,786 rebounds, and 1,720 assists.

Grant is divorced from his wife of 25 years, Jackie. They have three children together: daughters Jasmine and Jada, and son Harvey Jr.
