Harry Smith is an American sportscaster and television host. He is currently the host of NBC’s NFL Sunday Night Football pre-game show Football Night in America. He also serves as a play-by-play announcer for Notre Dame Football on NBC.

Smith was born in Queens, New York, on August 22, 1967. He is the son of Harry Smith Sr., a former New York City police officer, and his wife, Connie (née Russell). He has two sisters, Tracy and Kimberly.
Smith was raised in Baldwin, New York, on Long Island. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1985. He then attended Syracuse University, where he played on the school’s lacrosse team. He graduated from Syracuse in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
After graduation, Smith began his career as a sports reporter for WSYR-TV in Syracuse, New York. He then worked as a sports anchor and reporter for WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1992, he joined ESPN, where he served as a sports anchor and reporter.
In 1998, Smith began working for NBC Sports, where he served as a play-by-play announcer for Notre Dame Football on NBC. In 2006, he became the host of NBC’s NFL Sunday Night Football pre-game show Football Night in America.
Smith has won several Emmy Awards for his work as a sportscaster. In 2010, he was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Silver Circle.
Smith is married to his wife, Jill (née Arrington). The couple has two children together, a son named Connor and a daughter named Kaylee.
