David LaChapelle is an American artist, photographer, director, and producer. He was born on March 11, 1963 in Hartford, Connecticut, and was raised in North Carolina. His father was a Baptist minister and his mother was a homemaker. He has two older sisters. LaChapelle was educated at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Art Institute of Boston.

LaChapelle began his career as a photographer for Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine. He also worked as a fashion photographer for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Rolling Stone. In the early 1990s, LaChapelle moved to Los Angeles and began directing music videos for artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and David Bowie. He has also directed commercials for brands such as Coca-Cola and Levi’s.

LaChapelle’s work is characterized by its use of bright colors and often surreal or grotesque subjects. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and he has received numerous awards for his photography.

LaChapelle is estimated to have a net worth of $10 million. He has been married twice; first to actress Elizabeth Berkley, with whom he has two children, and then to artist Jana Klintoukhova. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
