Craig Mack (born May 10, 1971) is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his 1994 hit single “Flava In Ya Ear”, which was released on Bad Boy Records. Mack was born in Trenton, New Jersey and raised in nearby Mount Holly Township. His mother, Mabel (née Robinson), was a schoolteacher, and his father, Calvin, was a truck driver. Mack has two older sisters, Deborah and Donna. Mack’s interest in music began at an early age; he started rapping at the age of 12. He attended Rancocas Valley Regional High School, where he played football and ran track. After graduating from high school, Mack attended Middlesex County College. He later transferred to Seton Hall University, but did not graduate.
Mack’s music career began in earnest in 1991, when he was signed to Uptown Records by Andre Harrell. His debut album, Project: Funk Da World, was released in 1994 and featured the hit single “Flava In Ya Ear”. The single was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was also certified gold by the RIAA. In 1995, Mack left Uptown Records and signed with Bad Boy Records. His second album, Operation: Get Down, was released in 1996. The album failed to match the commercial success of his debut album, but it did spawn the single “Get Down”, which peaked at number 37 on the Hot 100.
Mack’s third and final album, Ghetto Millionaire, was released in 1998. The album was a commercial disappointment, selling only 200,000 copies. Mack subsequently left Bad Boy Records and retired from the music industry. In 2012, Mack resurfaced and announced that he was working on a new album. The album, titled The Mack World Sessions, was released in 2014.
Mack has an estimated net worth of $1 million. He has been married twice; his first marriage ended in divorce. He has three children: two sons and one daughter.
