Bo Dietl (born November 26, 1950) is an American former New York City police detective, television personality, and private investigator. He is the founder and CEO of Beau Dietl & Associates, a New York-based investigative and security consulting firm.
Early Life
Dietl was born and raised in the Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens, New York. His father was a German immigrant and his mother was of Irish descent. He has four brothers and sisters. Dietl attended St. Francis Preparatory School in Brooklyn before being expelled in his senior year. He then attended and graduated from John Adams High School in Ozone Park.
Dietl began his law enforcement career in 1971 as a New York City police officer. He worked as a patrolman in the Bronx and later as an undercover narcotics detective in Manhattan. In 1978, he was assigned to the NYPD’s elite Street Crime Unit, where he gained notoriety for his aggressive style of policing. Dietl was featured in the 1981 book The New Jackals: Ramzi Yousef, Osama bin Laden and the Future of Terrorism by Simon Reeve.
Dietl left the NYPD in 1985 to start his own private investigation firm, Beau Dietl & Associates. The firm quickly gained a reputation for its high-profile cases, including the investigation into the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. In recent years, the firm has been hired by major corporations such as Walmart and Coca-Cola to conduct internal investigations.
Dietl has also worked as a television commentator and analyst, appearing on Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. He was a regular contributor to The O’Reilly Factor and hosted his own show on Fox News Radio. In 2016, Dietl ran for mayor of New York City as a Republican, but withdrew from the race before the primary election.
