Bennett Jackson is an American football cornerback who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame.
Early Life
Jackson was born on March 6, 1991 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Bennett and Lisa Jackson. He has two sisters, Brittany and Lindsey. Jackson attended Hazleton Area High School, where he played football and basketball. He was a three-time all-state selection in football and was named the 2009 Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year. Jackson played in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Jackson attended Notre Dame from 2009 to 2013. He played in 44 games with 22 starts. Jackson had 119 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles in his career. He was a two-time Academic All-American and was named a National Scholar-Athlete by the National Football Foundation in 2012.
Career
Jackson was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was waived on August 25, 2014 and was signed to the practice squad the next day. Jackson was promoted to the active roster on December 6, 2014. He appeared in four games with one start in his rookie season. Jackson was placed on injured reserve on December 29, 2014 with a hamstring injury.
Jackson was released by the Giants on September 5, 2015. He was signed to the practice squad on September 7, 2015. Jackson was promoted to the active roster on October 3, 2015. He appeared in one game before being placed on injured reserve on October 27, 2015 with a knee injury.
Jackson was released by the Giants on September 3, 2016. He was signed to the practice squad on September 4, 2016. Jackson was promoted to the active roster on October 8, 2016. He appeared in eight games with one start in 2016 and had 18 tackles and one interception.
Jackson was released by the Giants on September 2, 2017 and was signed to the practice squad the next day. He was promoted to the active roster on October 14, 2017 and appeared in one game before being placed on injured reserve on October 24, 2017 with a hamstring injury.
