Ann Druyan is an American writer and producer who is best known for her work on the PBS documentary series Cosmos. She was born on April 25, 1949, in Queens, New York, to a Jewish family. Her father, Cyril Druyan, was a Russian immigrant who worked as a photographer, and her mother, Anna Druyan, was a housewife. She has two sisters, Nina and Debbie. Druyan was educated at the High School of Music & Art in New York City and at Cornell University, where she studied English and philosophy.

After graduation, she began her career as a writer and producer for the PBS series Nova. In 1978, she met Carl Sagan, with whom she would later collaborate on the Cosmos series. The couple married in 1981 and had two children together, Alexandra and Sam. Sagan died in 1996.

Druyan remarried in 1999 to the director and producer Steven Soter. The couple has one child together, Dylan. Druyan’s net worth is estimated to be $5 million. ..
