She played for various club teams in Southern California before being recruited by the University of Southern California.

Rodriguez played for USC from 2005 to 2009. She was a two-time All-American and helped the Trojans win the 2007 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. Rodriguez was also a member of the U.S. U-20 women’s national team that won the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

After college, Rodriguez was drafted by the Boston Breakers of the Women’s Professional Soccer league. She played for the Breakers for two seasons before being traded to the Seattle Reign FC in 2013. Rodriguez has also played for the U.S. women’s national team since 2005. She was a member of the team that won the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Rodriguez is married to Adam Shilling, a former professional soccer player. They have two sons, Ryan and Jack.
