Victoria Beckham is an English businesswoman, fashion designer, model, and singer. In the late 1990s, Beckham rose to fame with her band Spice Girls, and was dubbed Posh Spice by the British media. After the Spice Girls split, she was signed to Virgin Records and Telstar Records. Beckham’s first solo album, Come On Home (1999), reached the top 10 in the UK. Her second album, Open Your Eyes (2001), did not perform as well as her debut album, but it did spawn the UK top 10 single “Not Such an Innocent Girl”. During her solo career, Beckham has released three UK Top 10 singles.
Beckham has found more success as a fashion designer. In September 2008, Beckham launched her eponymous label at New York Fashion Week. The label’s style is described as “modern vintage”. Beckham has been named a fashion icon by Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. In 2014, she was inducted into the Fashion Walk of Fame in New York. She has also been involved with other fashion ventures. Beckham is a patron of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
Victoria Beckham was born on April 17, 1974 in Harlow, Essex, England. Her parents are Jacqueline Doreen (née West) and Anthony William Adams. She has one older sister, Louise, and two younger brothers, Christian and Louis. Beckham’s father played football for Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient; he also introduced her to the sport. Beckham attended St. Mary’s High School in Cheshunt, where she was a member of the school choir.
After graduating from high school, Beckham studied dance and modelling. She was signed to a modelling agency at age 16. In 1993, Beckham started appearing in commercials for products such as Pepsi and Gillette. That same year, she auditioned for a spot in the girl group Spice Girls. Beckham was originally not chosen to be a member of the group, but she was later added as the fifth and final member. The group’s first single, “Wannabe”, was released in 1996 and became a global hit.
The Spice Girls went on to release three studio albums (Spice, Spiceworld, Forever) and tour the world. In 1998, Beckham married English footballer David Beckham. The couple have four children: Brooklyn Joseph (born 1999), Romeo James (born 2002), Cruz David (born 2005), and Harper Seven (born 2011).
After the Spice Girls disbanded in 2000, Beckham signed a solo record deal with Virgin Records. Her first solo single, “Out of Your Mind”, was released in 2000 and reached the UK Top 10. Beckham’s first solo album, Come On Home (1999), was released in 2001 and reached the UK Top 10. The album’s second single, “Not Such an Innocent Girl”, peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart.
In 2003, Beckham launched her own fashion label, dvb Style. The label’s first collection was shown at New York Fashion Week in 2004. The label is now distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Beckham has also released two fragrances, “Intimately Beckham” (2006) and “Signature” (2008).

1 | If a bride could splurge on a single thing, it's the booze, because that's what guarantees more fun. |
2 | [on fame] I cope because I have to, because it's just the way my life is. I'm hardened to it. I know how I'm perceived is not how I am, and that's what matters. When they say I'm too thin, I just think: you know what? I'm happy to be thin. I'm into fashion and I like to be able to wear whatever I like. It's my business, and if other people don't like it, that's their business. |
3 | I have no intention of ever working with the (Spice) girls again. |
4 | If you haven't got it, fake it! Too short? Wear big high heels, but do practice walking! |
5 | I'm not materialistic. I believe in presents from the heart, like a drawing that a child does. |
6 | "He's got more personality than people think and he's very deep and spiritual. He always knows how to dress, that was part of his appeal originally. We've got matching dogs, matching watches, similar wardrobes, matchings Jags. I know it's tacky, but it makes me laugh." - on David Beckham. |
7 | My Spanish is improving and I can now ask: 'Dónde Gucci?' ('Where is Gucci?'). I also can say: 'Tienes un Bentley?' ('Do you have a Bentley?') - About her Spanish-speaking skills |
8 | It's not about competition. You should see me with a football - there's no competition at all" - maintaining that she and David are not rivals |
