The Shape, also known as Michael Myers, is a fictional character from the Halloween franchise. He first appears in John Carpenter’s Halloween as a young boy who murders his older sister, Judith Myers. Fifteen years later, he returns home to Haddonfield to kill again. He is portrayed by Nick Castle in the original film, and by Tyler Mane and Daeg Faerch as a teenager.
Early life
The Shape was born on October 19, 1957, in Haddonfield, Illinois, to parents Donald and Edith Myers. He has an older sister, Judith. When he was six years old, he stabbed his sister to death with a kitchen knife. He was sent to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, where he was treated by Dr. Sam Loomis.
Career
The Shape returns to Haddonfield fifteen years later, on Halloween night. He murders several people, including his teenage niece, Laurie Strode. He is eventually shot six times by Dr. Loomis and falls off a balcony. Laurie stabs him in the eye with a knitting needle, and he is presumed dead.
The Shape reappears in Halloween II, set the following year. He pursues Laurie to a hospital, where she has been taken after being shot by Dr. Loomis. He sets the hospital on fire and kills several people, but Laurie escapes. The Shape is again shot by Dr. Loomis and falls into a coma.
In Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, set ten years later, the Shape awakens from his coma and returns to Haddonfield to kill Laurie’s daughter, Jamie Lloyd. He is again thwarted by Dr. Loomis and Jamie’s babysitter, Rachel Carruthers. The Shape is shot and killed by Dr. Loomis.
In Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, set one year later, the Shape is revealed to have survived his previous encounter and returns to Haddonfield once again to kill Jamie. He is again thwarted by Dr. Loomis and Rachel. The Shape is shot and killed by Dr. Loomis.
In Halloween: H20, set twenty years after the events of the original film, the Shape returns to Haddonfield once again to kill Laurie Strode. This time, he is thwarted by Laurie’s son, John Tate, and his girlfriend, Molly Cartwright. The Shape is shot and killed by John Tate.
In Halloween: Resurrection, set two years later, the Shape returns yet again, this time as a figment of Laurie Strode’s imagination. He is killed when Laurie sets fire to the house he is hiding in.
Net worth
The Shape’s net worth is unknown. However, he does have a significant amount of money in his bank account, as well as a large collection of knives and other weapons.
Relationships
The Shape has had no known relationships with any other characters in the franchise. However, he did have a brief interaction with Laurie Strode in the original film, when he chased her through the streets of Haddonfield.
Physical characteristics
The Shape is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 6’1″ tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He typically wears a black mask over his face, which has been described as “expressionless.”

1 | I like smart jokes, I like dumb jokes, and I like dumb jokes done smartly. |
2 | If I went by all the rejection I've had in my career, I should have given up a long time ago. |
3 | I love making stuff. There's a joy in having the first molecule of an idea, then testing it in front of audiences at secret shows that people only know about the day before. I videotape those, study them, enjoy being in the character and figuring out the movie. |
4 | [of Shrek the Third (2007), in which he again provided the character's voice] The first time you meet him, he's a self-loathing ogre who doesn't feel that he's worthy of love. In the second one, he doesn't feel worthy of marriage, and in this one he doesn't feel he's worthy of being the father of his country or being a father of a child. You know what I mean? It's a smart progression. |
5 | [when asked who some of his comic heroes were] Peter Sellers, Dan Aykroyd, the whole original SNL [Saturday Night Live (1975)] cast. Lorne Michaels is a hero of mine. I did a project on him in grade eight. He's a Canadian hero. He's a man of impeccable taste. And Gilda Radner was a big hero of mine. |
6 | Canada is the essence of not being. Not English, not American, it is the mathematic of not being. And a subtle flavour - we're more like celery as a flavour. |
7 | As a people, the English find male partial nudity and cross-dressing to be very funny. It's definitely a color on our palette, and I follow in that tradition. |
8 | I still believe that at any time the no-talent police will come and arrest me. |
9 | [June 1999] Austin Powers was born out of trying to celebrate my father's life. My father's favorites were mine -- Peter Sellers, Monty Python, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore . . . my dad was a guy who loved to be silly; he had a highly prized sense of humor. When I would bring friends home to play table hockey in the basement, if my dad didn't think they were funny, he wouldn't let them in the house. "They can't come around", he'd say. :They're not bloody funny!" |

Reitman told the Calgary Sun that the new film "won't be a retread of the Peter Sellers versions. We want something new and fresh.
