Tadanobu Asano is a Japanese actor, director, and screenwriter. He was born on November 27, 1973, in Yokohama, Japan. His father, Shunichi Asano, was a businessman, and his mother, Fumiko Suzuki, was a housewife. He has two older sisters. Asano attended Yokohama International School and later studied acting at the Drama School of Tokyo.
Asano made his acting debut in the 1992 television series “Oshin.” He has since appeared in numerous films and television shows. Some of his most notable roles include Takezo Kensei in “The Last Samurai” (2003), Densuke in “Hana and Alice” (2004), and Gen-an Shirakura in “13 Assassins” (2010). Asano has also directed two films: “Bashing” (2005) and “Himizu” (2011).
Asano is married to Japanese actress Kotoko Kawamura. The couple has two sons.
