Susan Penhaligon is a British actress, best known for her roles in the television series Bouquet of Barbed Wire and its sequel, A Bouquet of Barbed Wire.

Penhaligon was born in Truro, Cornwall, the daughter of a doctor. She was educated at Truro High School for Girls and the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Penhaligon began her career as a stage actress, appearing in repertory theatre and on Broadway. She made her film debut in the 1968 film The Lion in Winter, starring Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn. She went on to appear in a number of films, including The Awakening (1980), The Hunger (1983), and The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1987).

Penhaligon’s television roles include the miniseries The Forsyte Saga (1967), the title role in the series Emma (1972), and the lead role in the series Bouquet of Barbed Wire (1976). She won a BAFTA Award for her performance in the latter series.

Penhaligon has been married three times: to actor James Aubrey in 1968 (divorced 1974); to actor Richard Warwick in 1977 (divorced 1982); and to actor Nigel Havers in 1985. She has two daughters, Lily and Daisy.

Penhaligon has been diagnosed with breast cancer on two occasions, in 1986 and again in 2001. She is a patron of the charity Breast Cancer Care.
