Seth Gilliam is an American actor. He is known for his role as Clayton Hughes on the HBO series The Wire, as well as his roles in the films Starship Troopers, Still Alice, and Teen Wolf.
Gilliam was born in New York City, New York, on November 5, 1968. His father, William, was a professor of African-American studies, and his mother, Gail, was a librarian. He has two sisters, Rebecca and Rachel. Gilliam was raised in a Jewish household.
He attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. He then studied acting at the Juilliard School, from which he graduated in 1991.
Gilliam’s first film role was in the 1995 film Starship Troopers. He has also appeared in the films Still Alice (2014) and Teen Wolf (2011).
On television, Gilliam is best known for his role as Clayton Hughes on the HBO series The Wire (2002-2008). He has also appeared on the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999-2001), Oz (1997-2003), and The Good Wife (2010-2016).
