Rosemary Harris (born October 25, 1927) is a British-American actress. She is best known for her role as Aunt May in the Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007).

Harris was born in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, England, the daughter of Irene (née Bury) and Walter Harris, who ran a sweetshop. She has two sisters, Gillian and Janet. She was educated at Ashby Grammar School and then at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Harris’ first professional role was as a member of the Old Vic Company in 1945. She made her Broadway debut in 1947, in The Seven Year Itch. She has appeared in numerous stage productions in both the UK and the US, including The Lion in Winter (1966), The Royal Family (1974), The Elephant Man (1979), and My Fair Lady (1981).

Harris has appeared in over 100 film and television roles. Her film credits include The Haunting (1963), The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965), The Tamarind Seed (1974), Death on the Nile (1978), and The Bostonians (1984). On television, she has appeared in such series as The Avengers (1961–1969), Rumpole of the Bailey (1978–1992), and Upstairs, Downstairs (1971–1975).

Harris has been married three times: first to actor Richard Harris (1951–1959); then to director Peter Hall (1973–1983); and finally to actor John Standing (1990–present). She has two daughters from her first marriage, Emma and Rebecca, and a son from her second marriage, Christopher.

Harris has been nominated for three Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, three BAFTA Awards, and four Tony Awards. In 1996, she was awarded the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for her services to drama.
