Lester was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, on 30 January 1987. His parents are Paul and Gillian Lester. He has two older sisters, Kate and Laura. Lester was educated at Bradford Grammar School and the University of York, where he studied English literature.
Lester’s career began in 2006 when he started posting videos on YouTube under the username AmazingPhil. His videos mostly consist of vlogs, challenges, and Q&As. In 2011, Lester began hosting a radio show on BBC Radio 1. He has also appeared in several television shows, including Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
