Peter Marc Jacobson is an American television producer, writer and director. He is best known for creating and executive producing the sitcom The Nanny, which starred Fran Drescher.
Jacobson was born in Queens, New York on October 27, 1957. His parents were both accountants. He has two older sisters. Jacobson attended the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. He then studied film at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Jacobson’s first job in the entertainment industry was as a production assistant on the sitcom Taxi. He then went on to write for a number of sitcoms, including It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and Roseanne.
In 1993, Jacobson created The Nanny, which starred his then-wife Fran Drescher. The show was a hit, running for six seasons on CBS.
Since The Nanny ended, Jacobson has directed episodes of a number of television shows, including Will & Grace, Hot in Cleveland and 2 Broke Girls. He has also served as a producer on Drescher’s show Happily Divorced.
Jacobson’s net worth is estimated to be $20 million. He has been married to Drescher since 1978. They have one son, Benjamin, who was born in 1983.
