Peter Mansbridge, OC, is a Canadian journalist and news anchor. He is the chief correspondent for CBC News and anchor of The National, CBC Television’s flagship nightly newscast.

Mansbridge was born on July 6, 1948, in London, England, to Canadian parents. His father, Roland Mansbridge, was a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot and his mother, Audrey Mansbridge, was a homemaker. He has two older sisters, Janet and Deborah.

Mansbridge was educated at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario, and at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. He began his career as a reporter with the CBC Radio Winnipeg office in 1968.

Mansbridge has been the chief correspondent for CBC News and anchor of The National since 1988. He has reported on a wide range of stories for CBC, including the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, the first Gulf War, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He has won numerous awards for his work, including 12 Gemini Awards and an honorary doctorate from the University of Manitoba.

Mansbridge is married to Cynthia Dale, an actress best known for her role on the CBC television series Street Legal. They have three children together: Peter Dale Mansbridge Jr., twins Chloe and Olivia Mansbridge.
