Paul Le Mat (born September 22, 1953) is an American actor. He is best known for his roles as John Milner in American Graffiti (1973), Pvt. Joker in Full Metal Jacket (1987) and Pee-wee Herman in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985).

Le Mat was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Pauline (née Johnson) and Frank Le Mat. His father was of French descent and his mother was of English and Irish ancestry. He has two sisters, Michele and Sharon. Le Mat was raised in San Pedro, California. He attended San Pedro High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team.
Le Mat began his acting career in the early 1970s with guest appearances on such television shows as The Odd Couple, Love, American Style and Marcus Welby, M.D.. His first film role was in the 1973 coming-of-age classic American Graffiti, in which he played John Milner, the hot rod-racing “Wolfman.” He also appeared in the 1974 film The California Kid.
In 1975, Le Mat starred in the short-lived television series Movin’ On as trucker Sonny Pruitt. He also appeared in an episode of The Rockford Files that same year. In 1977, he co-starred with James Caan and Kirk Douglas in the film The Final Countdown.
Le Mat’s most famous role came in 1985, when he played Pee-wee Herman in Tim Burton’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. He also appeared in Burton’s 1988 film Beetlejuice as Adam Maitland.

In 1987, Le Mat starred in Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam War film Full Metal Jacket as Pvt. Joker. He also appeared in the 1989 film Glory as Sgt. Major Mulcahy.
Le Mat has appeared in many other films and television shows over the years, including The A-Team, Magnum, P.I., L.A. Law, Star Trek: The Next Generation and ER.
Le Mat is married to actress Sharon Farrell. They have two daughters, Erin and Katie.
