Matt Lucas is an English comedian, writer, actor, and singer, best known for his work on the BBC sketch comedy series Little Britain and its spin-off Come Fly with Me. He has also appeared in films such as Bridesmaids, Alice in Wonderland, and Paddington.
Born in Paddington, London, on 5 March 1974, Lucas is the son of Diana (née Barnett), a social worker, and John Lucas, a senior lecturer in business studies. He has two older sisters, Julie and Kate. Lucas was educated at Windlesham House School, an independent school in Sussex, before going on to study drama at the University of Bristol.
Lucas began his career in 1991, when he wrote and performed in the BBC Radio 4 series The Skivers. He then went on to write and star in the BBC2 sketch comedy series Little Britain, which ran for three series from 2003 to 2005. The show was a huge success, winning multiple BAFTAs, and led to a number of spin-offs, including the 2006 film Little Britain Abroad and the 2007–2008 live tour Little Britain Live.
In 2011, Lucas starred in the BBC sitcom Come Fly with Me, which he co-wrote with David Walliams. The show was cancelled after one series due to poor ratings. Lucas has also appeared in a number of films, including Bridesmaids (2011), Alice in Wonderland (2010), and Paddington (2014).
Lucas is openly gay and has been in a relationship with television producer Kevin McGee since 2006. The couple married in 2006, but McGee died by suicide in 2008. Lucas has since said that he “doesn’t really feel the need to get married again”. He has one daughter from a previous relationship.
Lucas has a net worth of $9 million (£6.5 million), as of 2020. He has earned his wealth through his successful career as a comedian and actor.

Pingu (1986) is my favourite TV show and I loved the way they used gibberish in that.
4
I grew up watching Worzel Gummidge (1979) and so, after Little Britain (2003), which was so rude, I wanted to do a show that actually the whole family could watch and enjoy and that people wouldn't tell me off in the streets for corrupting their kids.
5
Of course in the Seventies, the pocket calculator was an object of desire. As was Valerie Singleton, though she was slightly harder to write the word boobs on.
6
In the Sixties we could smoke to our lungs' discontent more or less anywhere we liked.
7
With contestants generally ranging from 16 to the mid 20s, the beauty contest was enormously popular entertainment and one of the few talent show formats we've not tried to bring back... yet.
8
I met Boy George in a club and he asked me if I'd play Leigh Bowery, presumably because I'm bald and fat. I'd make my entrance to a lovely song called 'Don't Knock It 'Til You've Tried It', which is about cottaging, a big part of Leigh's life. He wasn't fussed what you looked like, and I really think that's something to celebrate.
9
I loved all the camp comics of my childhood, Kenneth Williams and Frankie Howerd and John Inman, but school gave me a very bad feeling about being gay and then, when I was about 12 - bang, along came AIDS. I can't think of a single positive thing about being gay at that time.

His break up from Kevin McGee was finalized. The pair split in June 2008 and are the first publicly known gay celebrity couple to dissolve their partnership (break up) since (same-sex) civil partnerships were introduced (legalized) in the U.K. in 2004. [October 2008]
In 2006 his cousin Alexa Tilley was a contestant on the business-based reality show The Apprentice (2005).
