Mark Ingram Jr. (born December 21, 1989) is an American football running back for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Alabama, and was a member of a national championship team. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and he won Super Bowl XLIV with the team.

Early Life

Mark Ingram Jr. was born on December 21, 1989, in Hackensack, New Jersey. His father, Mark Ingram Sr., was a wide receiver for the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. His mother, Shonda Ingram, was a track star at the University of Alabama. Ingram has two brothers, Michael and Maurice.

Ingram attended Flint Hill Preparatory School in Oakton, Virginia. He was a letterman in football and track. In football, he was a two-time All-American and helped lead his team to three consecutive conference championships. In track, he was a state champion in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

Ingram accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Alabama, where he played for coach Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide football team from 2008 to 2010. He was a member of Alabama’s 2009 national championship team.

Career

Ingram was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was the 28th overall pick. He won Super Bowl XLIV with the Saints in 2010.

In 2012, Ingram rushed for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl and was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

In 2013, Ingram rushed for 964 yards and 9 touchdowns. He missed three games due to injury.

In 2014, Ingram rushed for 1,109 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career.

In 2015, Ingram rushed for 769 yards and 6 touchdowns. He missed four games due to injury.

In 2016, Ingram rushed for 1,043 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career.

In 2017, Ingram rushed for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career.

In 2018, Ingram rushed for 654 yards and 4 touchdowns. He missed four games due to injury.

In 2019, Ingram rushed for 1,018 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career.

In 2020, Ingram rushed for 867 yards and 5 touchdowns. He missed two games due to injury.

In 2021, Ingram signed a two-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens worth $15 million.
