Linda Davis is an American country music singer. She is known for her work as a solo artist and as a duet partner with her husband, country music singer Lang Scott. The pair have released several albums together and have charted several singles on the Billboard country charts.
Davis was born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 26, 1962. She was the youngest of three children born to parents who were both schoolteachers. Her father also coached high school football. Davis began singing in her church choir as a child and later sang in the school choir. She graduated from high school in 1980 and then attended Lamar University, where she studied music education.
After college, Davis began working as a music teacher in a private school. She also began performing with a local country band. In 1987, she met Lang Scott, who was also a country musician. The pair married the following year and began performing together as a duo.
Davis and Scott released their first album together, Restless, in 1992. The album spawned the hit single “My Baby Loves Me,” which peaked at number two on the Billboard country charts. The duo followed up with the album Heart to Heart in 1994. The album’s lead single, “Does He Love You,” was a number one hit on the country charts.
In 1995, Davis and Scott released their third album, Lang & Linda Scott. The album’s lead single, “In My Dreams,” was another top ten hit on the country charts. Davis and Scott released their fourth and final album together, Stronger Together, in 1997.
Since then, Davis has continued to release music as a solo artist. Her most recent album, Love Lifted Me, was released in 2016. Davis has also appeared as a guest vocalist on several albums by other artists, including Reba McEntire and Kenny Chesney.
Davis has been nominated for several Grammy Awards and has won two CMA Awards. She has also been inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.
