Jay Chandrasekhar is an American actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work on the television series Arrested Development and the film Super Troopers.

Chandrasekhar was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 9, 1968, to Indian immigrants. His father was a doctor and his mother was a homemaker. He has two older sisters. Chandrasekhar was raised in the suburbs of Chicago and graduated from high school in 1986. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied film and sociology.
After college, Chandrasekhar moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. He began performing stand-up comedy and soon landed a writing job on the television series Roseanne. He also wrote for the series The Simpsons and Dharma & Greg.
In 2001, Chandrasekhar wrote, directed, and starred in the film Super Troopers. The film was a critical and commercial success. Chandrasekhar followed up with the films Club Dread (2004) and The Dukes of Hazzard (2005).
In 2006, Chandrasekhar co-created and directed the television series Arrested Development. The show was a critical darling but struggled in the ratings. It was cancelled after three seasons but has since become a cult classic.

Chandrasekhar has continued to work as a director and actor. He has directed episodes of the television series Community and The Goldbergs. He has also appeared in the films Beerfest (2006) and The Hangover Part III (2013).
Chandrasekhar is married to actress Sarah Chalke. They have two children together.
